Frequently Asked Questions about Psychology

What is included in the treatment process?

The treatment process includes access to digital self-help materials and up to five video consultations with a psychologist, with the first session used to get to know you and assess your challenges.

How long does a psychological consultation last?

The allocated time to speak with the psychologist is 45 minutes.

What happens after I have booked a psychology consultation?

After you have booked a psychology consultation, the upcoming appointment will appear on the home screen of your app. You will see the name of the psychologist you have scheduled the consultation with, as well as the time they will call you, along with some information on how to prepare for the consultation or cancel it if necessary. If you book a consultation for a later time, you will receive a message from the Eyr app 24 hours before the appointment, asking you to go into the app where you will find a link to a symptom assessment form. If you book the consultation on the same day, the link to the form will appear immediately on your home screen.

By going through the form, you will address specific issues or concerns related to the need for psychological help. The purpose of this assessment is to rule out what doesn't apply to you and to indicate how much the difficulties you may recognize affect you. This usually takes 10-12 minutes, and only you and the psychologist you have chosen to speak with will have access to your responses.

Completing the symptom assessment before the session is not mandatory, but we recommend it, as it will help the psychologist gain a better understanding of your situation. Based on this and the information you have provided about why you are seeking help, they will be able to tailor the session to ensure you get the most benefit from the conversation.

How much does a psychological consultation cost?

The psychological session costs 1300 NOK, and is paid in the app at the time of booking.

When should I seek psychological help elsewhere?

If the issue you're experiencing meets the criteria for a mental health diagnosis and significantly impairs your ability to function in daily life, you may be entitled to help from the public specialist healthcare system. The treatment offered by Eyr Psychologists is not meant to replace the treatment you're entitled to free of charge. If you're experiencing increasing or very high symptom pressure, you should first contact your doctor’s office for advice on available treatment options.

Do you have a complex or serious mental illness?

Certain conditions require more extensive or specialized evaluation and treatment than the psychologists at Eyr can provide within their framework. This includes, among others:

  • ADHD evaluation
  • Severe anxiety or obsessive-compulsive disorders
  • Bipolar disorder evaluation
  • Moderate to severe depression
  • Psychosis
  • Eating disorders
  • Personality disorder evaluation
  • Severe substance abuse issues

These conditions entitle you to evaluation and (if diagnosed) treatment within the public specialist healthcare system. Talk to your doctor’s office about this.
