When should I seek psychological help elsewhere?
If your difficulties meet the criteria for a mental disorder and significantly impair your ability to function in daily life, you may be entitled to help from the public specialist healthcare services. The treatment offered by Eyr Psychologists is not intended to replace care you are entitled to in the public system. If you are experiencing increasing or very intense symptoms, you should first consult your general practitioner for advice on what treatment options are available to you.
Do you have a complex or severe mental disorder?
Some conditions require more extensive or specialized assessment and treatment than what Eyr psychologists can provide. This includes:
-
ADHD assessment
-
Severe anxiety or obsessive-compulsive disorder
-
Bipolar disorder
-
Moderate to severe depression
-
Psychotic disorders
-
Eating disorders
-
Personality disorders
-
Severe substance abuse
These conditions may qualify you for assessment and treatment in the public specialist healthcare system. Talk to your GP about your options.
